Luciano Martini works for RSE, a national research center based in Milano (Italy), where he is the Director of the “Transmission and Distribution Technologies” Department. He serves as the Italian co-Lead of the "Smart Grids Innovation Challenge" in Mission Innovation. Luciano Martini has more than 25 years’ experience on R&D activities dealing with applied superconductivity, renewable energies integration and smart grids. He is the Coordinator of the Joint Programme on Smart Grids of EERA and a member of the Governing Board of the ETIP SNET, and has been repeatedly recruited as an independent expert to review research proposals and publicly funded R&D projects. He is the vice-Chairman and Italian delegate within the Executive Committee of the IEA TCP ISGAN (International Smart Grid Action Network), the Chair of the IEA TCP HTS for assessing the impacts of High-Temperature Superconductivity on the Electric Power Sector, and member of several CIGRE and IEC international working groups.
